Armia was heavily involved in trade rumors last summer but the Canadiens were unable to move him, presumably due to his 3.4 million dollar cap hit. The winger was sent down to the AHL at the beginning of the year and cleared waivers in the process. Now the team has reportedly started trying to trade him again.
While the team may have ulterior motives for calling up Armia, the 30-year-old has been off to a hot start in the AHL, earning an honest call up after putting up 4 goals and 5 points in 4 games with Laval. The team will now likely put him in a position to showcase his skills for potential trade partners.
