The Pittsburgh Penguins preseason game against the Red Wings in Detroit was postponed thanks to some travel issues for the Pens.

First, Detroit pushed the game start back to 8:30 PM, but then they postponed the game entirely.
Turns out the black and gold had some mechanical issues with their plane and couldn't get to Detroit in time.
They practiced at their facility this morning, but NHL teams often travel the day of games during exhibition time, which doesn't leave much wiggle room compared to the regular season.
The Pittsburgh Penguins regret that we were not able to travel to Detroit this afternoon as planned for our game against the Red Wings. Continued mechanical issues with our team plane were not able to be rectified and despite great effort, there was no method to travel to Detroit safely.
We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused to all fans, media, officials and the Red Wings who were already at Little Caesars Arena.

The Red Wings announced the game is rescheduled for September 30th at 7:00PM.
Tonight's game was shaping up to be a fun one. The Red Wings were planning to debut Patrick Kane in the preseason, and for Pittsburgh, Rutger McGroarty was set for a bit of a homecoming, playing in Michigan after signing his entry-level contract late in the offseason following his trade from the Winnipeg Jets.
