Many Leafs fans out there have become concerned about whether their new c
aptain Auston Matthews is healthy after he appeared very skinny in photos.
In a recent photo, Auston Matthews looks noticeably lighter than the listed 215 pounds on the NHL website. Some fans believe that he simply hasn't had an official weight update yet, theorizing he could have lost 15 to 20 pounds to try and increase his speed and agility on the ice.
Having been through an illness in the playoffs that kept him out of games 4, 5, and 6 in the first round, Auston Matthews' play in game 3 was noticeably affected as well. He made it back for game 7, but the team still fell short.
Auston Matthews, a two-time 60+ goal scorer in the last three seasons, has accumulated 649 points, courtesy of 368 goals and 281 assists in 562 games throughout his eight years in the NHL. Recently, the Leafs handed him the captaincy, taking over from John Tavares this offseason.
Leafs fans and the team alike cannot wait for the season to get going.
