The hockey world has waited patiently for Utah's new NHL team to finalize its name. They are now one step closer to a decision, as owner Ryan Smith detailed today, leaking two of the four options on the shortlist.

The Arizona Coyotes finished their last game as an NHL team during this year's regular season. After long-term financial trouble and competition among hopeful owners, the team moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where hopeful fans greeted them.
"I'm back in Salt Lake City, where Utah's new NHL team will give the former Arizona Coyotes a look at their new home today. When they get off the plane in about an hour, they will be greeted by youth hockey players and their parents. People are already lining up at the airport."
However, these fans and newly relocated players have had to wait on a name since the announcement of owner Ryan Smith's acquisition of the team. Since then, Smith shared that the team will remain unnamed for its first season to provide proper time to determine all aspects.
«'Utah' will be on the front of the jerseys of the state's NHL team next season, owner @RyanQualtrics said.

The team will take its time to determine its name, logos and colors.

After several weeks of loud fans making suggestions and quiet discussions with the leadership team, Ryan Smith appeared on the Pat McAfee show today. During his brief phone interview, Smith revealed two names still on the shortlist for Utah's new team.
"NHL Utah owner Ryan Smith made an impromptu appearance on The Pat McAfee Show today, and gave a bit of a sneak peek on a couple of the finalists for the team name. 👀

'We've got our fourI think Mammoth is up there, I think Yeti is up thereit should be good.'»
With many fans still chirping about these choices and some of their own, it is still too early to determine what direction Ryan Smith and his team will go. However, it is clear that whatever name they decide on, they will have a fanbase that will support them in their first few years in the Beehive State.
