After calling him overrated earlier this month, Miami Herald columnist Greg Cote doubled down on his criticism of Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid.

Connor McDavid is widely regarded not only as one of the best players in the league but one of the best hockey players of all time. The Edmonton Oilers forward, even with the current overall talent in the NHL, has recorded some of the most impressive and obscure statistics ever, including the number two spot for most assists in February.
"Most assists in a month of February:

26 Wayne Gretzky
25 Connor McDavid (ended tonight)

Getting within sniffing distance of Gretzky records is insane."
However, not all hockey fans are too impressed. Greg Cote of the Miami Herald called out Connor McDavid earlier this month, describing him as 'overrated' due to his inability to bring the Edmonton Oilers to a Stanley Cup win.
"Connor McDavid is overrated. Boom. He puts up big, impressive stats, yes. Fine. But should he really be called generational,' called the best player in the sport, when in nine seasons he has yet to lead his team to a Stanley Cup?

He has the requisite nicknames -- McJesus, The Chosen One -- but he has not proved beyond-stats transcendent, able to lift a franchise to ultimate heights. McOverrated."
Following his minor claim to fame, Cote doubled down on his criticism of McDavid. However, he decided to throw shots at several others in the process, including the entire country of Canada.
"Connor McDavid has proved McOverrated (like a wise man once said) and Leon Draisaitl has been Dry-saital, neither scoring a goal in this Final,» he wrote. "Also, Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner has been pretty bad, and defenseman Darnell Nurse has been worse.

The country that invented hockey last won a Stanley Cup in 1993, and that country must be weeping in June yet again. On the bright side, Canada, there's still curling, eh?"

Though many hockey fans may agree with Cote's opinion, the player has much more pressing matters to worry about. The Edmonton Oilers are now down in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Florida Panthers 3-0. Connor McDavid will have to keep his head on scoring goals in Game 4, otherwise he will never be able to shake being McOverrated.
