Two Canadian teams have agreed to a huge trade that has sent Nikita Zadorov to a new home.
Zadorov Stays In Canada After Big Trade
Multiple sources have confirmed that the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks have agreed to a trade. According to reports Nikita Zadorov will be heading to Vancouver for an assortment of mid-round draft picks.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have acquired D Nikita Zadorov from the Calgary Flames in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft (acquired from CHI) and a third-round pick in 2026.
The trade comes after reports that Nikita Zadorov had asked to be traded out of Calgary. He now gets an opportunity to play on the same defensive unit as one of the top defensemen in the league Quinn Hughes.
The Flames get a couple of draft picks as they continue to evaluate their team. This further places the Flames in an interesting position between selling and rebuilding or wanting to compete.
The next few months will be fascinating as each team trends in different directions after this trade.
