Bruins Defenseman Formally Asks his Team to Trade Him Away
Recent news has emerged that Boston Bruins defenseman Jakub Zboril is seeking to be traded to another team.
Potential Trade on the Horizon: Zboril Asks the Bruins for a Trade
Last Wednesday, Zboril was placed on waivers by the Bruins and after clearing them 24 hours later, he was assigned back to the AHL.
Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff reports that the 26-year-old defenseman is looking for opportunities with other teams and a fresh start.
This season with Providence, Zboril has scored seven assists in 19 games. Currently, he is in the last year of a two-year contract with an average annual value of $1,137,500.
Zboril's Focus: Continuing His NHL Career
Seravall also shared that there's no talk of contract termination or a move back to Europe for Zboril at this point.
"On #NHLBruins placing Jakub Zboril on waivers, I'm told the Bruins are accommodating his request to see if another team is interested in giving him an opportunity.
His contract isn't being terminated and he's not going back to Europe."
Zboril's future might involve a trade soon, especially as the Bruins look to strengthen their roster before the trade deadline. Including him in a deal along with other players, prospects, or draft picks could provide the necessary cap space for a significant acquisition.
