Not a lot of NHL teams want to be in Toronto's situation concerning goalies.

The whole thing is a headache. The Leafs are way over the salary cap limit for next season, and they need to trade Matt Murray and sign Ilya Samsonov. Brad Treliving still has time to make it all work, but the sooner the better in this case.
A new mock trade was released that could solve all the Leafs' problems, and it actually makes sense.

Toronto to Go After Hellebuyck?

This is only speculation. Nothing indicates that it will happen; it's just fun to analyze.
Here's the proposed trade:
Maple Leafs receive: Connor Hellebuyck and Logan Stanley

Jets receive: Ilya Samsonov, Nick Robertson, Connor Timmins, and a 2024 first-round pick.

This trade would be a good deal for both teams. The Leafs' goalie problem would be over, and they would get a young talented defenseman.
However, they would also need to ship off a lot of talent, including Samsonov, Robertson, Timmins, alongside a quality pick in 2024.
From the Jets' perspective, it works. Hellebuyck has asked to be traded, and they would get a great replacement in Samsonov. They would also acquire major young talent with Robertson and Timmins. For a team in partial rebuild, these are great assets.
We have to say that this trade looks good for both sides, and we'd like to see something in that style happen.
Do you think the Leafs should try to get Hellebuyck via trade?
