Major Trade Brewing Trade Between the Flames and Bruins for Star Centre
Things aren't going too well in Calgary. Unfortunately, things don't seem to be getting better despite the major changes, including the manager and coach, that the organization made this summer.
After nine games, the Flames have a not-so-good 2-6-1 record.
With a few interesting players, including
Noah Hanifin and
Elias Lindholm, currently going through the last year of their contracts, could the timing be right for Craig Conroy to rebuild the team?
Eric Francis, Sportsnet's analyst covering the Flames, mentioned that they're not going for a full rebuild, but rather a "re-tooling".
"Not a tear-it-down rebuild as most are clamoring for, but a significant re-tooling that would almost certainly involve trading the aforementioned Flames pillars."
If the Flames decide to trade away either Lindholm or Hanifin, the Bruins would certainly be interested.
Bruins and Flames to Make a Trade?
To the surprise of many, Boston has had an impressive start to the season. They haven't lost a game in regulation time yet, even after the tough departures of Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, and
Tyler Bertuzzi.
But now that they've clearly announced that they will be a tough team to beat this season, they'll need to hold on to that reputation.
They might be scuffed under the salary cap, but we never know what moves GMs could pull off to land a key player, especially when guys like Lindholm and Hanifin are in the talks.
In the meantime, Sweeney will surely keep monitoring the Flames' situation closely.
