This NHL insider has just leaked what the Toronto Maple Leafs are offering to several different teams for their goaltenders, and there is a reason a trade hasn't happened.
Elliotte Friedman Reveals Brad Treliving's Offer For a Goalie Trade
Brad Treliving is trying to make his mark as GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs in his first season, and he has some tasks at hand trade-wise as the deadline comes up. One of those tasks is to potentially find help in net, as the Leafs have effectively lost Ilya Samsonov as he struggles to find his game this year.
Now, it has been revealed by Elliotte Friedman that the Leafs are offering up just a sixth-round pick to several teams for goaltenders.
"Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager Brad Treliving has offered a sixth-round pick to several teams for a goaltender, which all teams refused. He was hoping a team would be desperate to trade a goalie." - Elliotte Friedman
I mean, there isn't much to lose when offering such a low asset when the Leafs are clearly in need of goaltending. However, it doesn't seem like there is much urgency to Treliving's desire to complete a trade.
Leafs Looking At Several Goalies According to Insider
As Friedman states, the Leafs are scouring the League to try and see who might take the trade bait to help them in net. Luke Fox has also speculated that the Leafs are targeting the following goalies for a potential trade.
« Dan Vladar (Flames), Jake Allen (Canadiens), Eric Comrie (Sabres), and Anton Forsberg (Senators) were among the goalies targeted by Treliving. » - Luke Fox
The Leafs have to be careful not to trade away too large of an asset for a goaltender that they may not even need, as Martin Jones has been able to step up to the plate for the team. With Joseph Woll's return getting closer by the day, the Leafs don't want to waste an asset on a goalie that isn't needed.
However, it appears Treliving already knows that.
