Rumor: Calgary Flames Eyeing Top Bruins Forward
The Calgary Flames are coming off of a disappointing season. A General Manager and Coach change later and they are looking to get back into the playoffs. There are now rumors that they are looking to add a top talent from the Bruins to reset their forward core.
Jake DeBrusk is coming off of a career year with the Boston Bruins. Finishing the season with 27 goals and 50 total points in 64 games played. The 26-year-old winger would be an expensive add for the Flames but would allow the new regime to add their stamp to the roster.
What Would The Cost Be For DeBrusk?
According to the same rumors, the price to acquire DeBrusk would be steep. The Bruins recently lost their top two centers to retirement and could use DeBrusk to restock their top six. In this rumored deal the Bruins would get
Elias Lindholm and
Mikael Backlund.
Lindholm has been a good top-six center for the Flames throughout multiple seasons and playoff runs. He also matches up well with
David Pastrnak as far as age which could extend Boston's contention window.
This is a trade without an immediate winner. Both teams get good players and fill needs within their lineup.
For the Bruins, the added center depth and players of a similar age to your core is a great get. Lindholm also brings a pure playmaking element that is unique compared to the other Bruins forwards.
The Flames get younger with the acquisition of DeBrusk. He also adds a bonafide goalscorer who is just entering his prime. With added ice time and the added responsibility of being a main contributor DeBrusk's numbers could skyrocket.
