After the Los Angeles Kings were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs, rumors were flying about the possibility of the team buying out Pierre-Luc Dubois.

Kings GM Rob Blake addressed these rumors, stating that the team had no plans to buy out Dubois.
While Blake was right about the buyout, that didn't mean Dubois was guaranteed to stay.
In a surprising turn of events, the Washington Capitals have just acquired him in a massive trade that saw goaltender Darcy Kuemper and his $5.25 million AAV over the next three years go the other way.
Hearing Kings and Caps finalizing a trade involving Pierre-Luc Dubois and Darcy Kuemper
This marks the second straight offseason Dubois has been dealt. Last year, the Winnipeg Jets traded him to the Kings, where he signed an eight-year, $68 million extension with an AAV of $8.5 million per year. Now, just one year later, he's shockingly on the move again.
P-L Dubois has 7 years remaining on his deal at a cap hit of $8.5M, and is still owed $59.0M in actual salary.

Worth noting that Dubois' had a full no move clause that was set to kick-in on July 1st which would have allowed him blocked this trade.
