If you ever get to say you've bested something hockey superstar Connor McDavid did, you definitely have something to be proud of. A prospect of the Toronto Maple Leafs has found himself among some elite names in the Ontario Hockey League after a long points streak this season.

Maple Leafs Draft Pick Find Himself in Elite Company

The video below shows Easton Cowan, first round pick (28th overall) of the Leafs in the last NHL draft, stealing a puck in the offensive end during a penalty kills and scoring a goal against the Kitchener Rangers. The goal marked 28 straight games of at least one point for Cowan, surpassing both Connor McDavid and Alex Debrincat for the longest OHL point streak in the last 10 years.

Easton Cowan Breaks Connor McDavid's OHL Record

Cowan has been unstoppable for the Knights all season long, scoring 30 goals and 50 assists for 80 points in 46 games so far. That's 1.74 points per game, an absolutely torrid place for an 18-year-old player. He is looking like he'll become a late first-round steal for the Toronto Maple Leafs. By the way, if you're wondering who's had the longest point streak in the OHL ever, you have to go all the way back to 1982-83, when Doug Gilmour was playing for the Cornwall Royals. Gilmour managed an unbelievable 55 straight games with at least one point that season, and finished with 177 points (70G, 107A) in 68 games.

While Toronto GM Brad Treliving will likely be looking to add to his lineup before the NHL trade deadline on March 8, don't expect Cowan to be dealt to another team. A prospect with this much promise doesn't come along often. Treliving said he would be open to moving a future first-round pick for the right offer, but consider Cowan himself protected. The only question now is when he'll find a solid spot in the NHL.
