The Anaheim Ducks and Florida Panthers faced off on Monday afternoon in a surprisingly aggressive game.
The game was back and forth and full of aggression
It was a 5-4 match that required overtime to be decided. In addition, it was Radko Gudas' comeback to Florida game, and both sides were feeling very Gudas-like.
Florida's first period concluded with a 2-1 lead after the Panthers scored two goals, one on a power play and the other on a shorthanded opportunity. Alex Killorn's first goal of the game tied the score.
Adam Henrique tied the score in the second, his second shorthanded goal of the contest, this time for the Ducks. Sam Bennett's second of the game and Carter Verhaeghe put the Panthers back up by two, 4-2. Once more, Jakob Silfverberg scored for the Ducks in the closing moments to keep the score close.
The Ducks in overtime were not happy with the Florida fans
Killorn scored within the first minute of overtime. The goal could not be helped more than by a lazy back check from Tkachuk in overtime, he will owe his goaltender, Anthony Stolarz, dinner for sure.
There was some controversy after the goal as Killorn, Vatrano, and some other gathering Ducks got into it with some fans in the stands.
According to this account, they had a reason to do so.
"some cats fans threw trash on the ice/at killorn after the game winning goal, i've heard it also hit fowler too."
Vatrano may be getting a phone call from the league for flipping off fans on camera. Otherwise, it did seem warranted for the Ducks to be so upset.
