Goaltender John Gibson of the Anaheim Ducks is closely being watched by media today as he is slated to be on the trade block by his team to two teams currently contending in the standings. His value and experience come with great attributes to keep his team in the game, even though the Ducks team has not put up much of a fight in the league these past years.

Not to mention, that he would be an added asset to the team he plays for because of his playoff experience and the Stanley Cup ring, he possesses from the Anaheim Ducks during a run in the post-season in 2007.

Which two teams are interested in netminder John Gibson?

So far, the New Jersey Devils are in the mix for the goaltender and it seems they may have a suitable package to go after the goalie. New Jersey currently is 11th in the Conference with 29 points overall this season. To regain traction in the standings they must make a move for a steady netminder that will lead the team in defense and keep the scoring close for the Devils team.
For the Devils, this would be added security and a brand new look in the backend of the ice and give the young team a leadership voice that would complement the roster.
The second team involved in the John Gibson sweepstakes is the Detroit Redwings, who are having themselves a season, so to speak. The team is currently in 5th place in the Eastern Conference standings and is looking to upgrade to what could be a magical year for the organization. The Redwings are off to a hot start, but, because of goaltending, some games were lost at hand. This would be another major upgrade for the team and it would result in a veteran presence that would give the team confidence going into games and taking advantage of good goaltending in the backend of the ice.
