The Anaheim Ducks future is very bright, but their present isn't exactly a competitive roster, and according to a top insider, it could lead to a blockbuster trade.

Over the past few years, the Anaheim Ducks have seen several players from their best era depart, but especially former captain Ryan Getzlaf, and now, they may be on the verge of seeing another depart. According to a report from Elliotte Friedman, the team have begun talking to franchise icon Cam Fowler about a potential trade, with the team not expected to compete for a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season.
"I don't think anybody will be surprised if some time this season Cam Fowler is elsewhere and from what I've been told it is a positive working environment with him and the Ducks about getting this done and finding him a new place to play."
The report reveals that there are four teams Fowler is open to moving too, but with the front office approaching him about a potential trade, that list could expand extensively in the coming days and weeks. With two years left on his deal and a $6.5 million cap hit, moving Fowler won't be the easiest thing for the Ducks to accomplish, but with the cap space needed to potentially retain some money, they're in a good spot to get another interesting piece for the future.
At 32-years of age, Fowler was solid once more in 2023/24, playing in 81 games while tallying 5 goals and 39 points, but with so much experience and production behind him while missing just one game over the past two years, he could be a solid pickup for a contending team.
