Former NHL player Larry Trader has sadly passed away at the age of 61.

Unfortunately, the rough week the NHL community has had is getting worse as NHL almuni has announced the passing of former Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings, and St. Louis Blues player Larry Trader at the age of 61.
Trader played his junior hockey in the OHL for the London Knights, before being drafted 86th overall in the 1981 NHL draft by the Red Wings, where he would play 55 of his 91 career NHL games.
After a brief stint with the Blues, Trader finished his NHL after the 1987-1988 season, a season in which he played for the historic Montreal Canadiens franchise. Trader would then continue his playing career in Europe, where he would play in Austria and Italy, before retiring for good after the 1993-1994 hockey season.
Trader was the embodiment of a defensive defensemen, only posting 18 points in his brief NHL career, but looking back at his stats with the London Knights will show you that he was a physical force on the blueline, wracking up 360 PIMS over two and a half seasons in the OHL.
Our thoughts go out to Trader's family during this difficult time, and may Larry Rest In Peace.
