Trade speculation has followed Trevor Zegras for quite some time now, and now it's getting to the point where he is expected to be traded.
Last year was a down year for Trevor Zegras in Anaheim, and while the star forward showed off his talent, he tallied just 6 goals and 15 points through 31 games of an injury-riddled campaign. Since that point, especially with the addition of Cutter Gauthier and Leo Carlsson, as well as the emergence of Troy Terry and Mason MacTavish, he's been in the middle of trade rumours, which now become more and more likely.
According to Stu Grimson of NHL Network, General Manager Pat Verbeek isn't too excited about having a softer player like Zegras as a part of his future, making a trade before the 2025 trade deadline 'likely'.
Trevor Zegras often comes up in trade rumors around the league.
What could the Ducks get in return if they decided to trade Zegras?
With their star studded forward group expected to take steps forward in 2024/25, Zegras' role remains undefined, and with the Flames, Rangers and Canadiens among other teams all interested in the flashy 23-year old, a trade would make sense for both parties. The future is bright in Anaheim, but it simply doesn't include Zegras, and with so much talent, expect to see him traded before the end of next season where he can find a defined role and flourish moving forward.
