The NHL season is now in full swing. Last night one rookie got his first taste of NHL action which led to a monumental first game.
Bruins Rookie Makes His Debut
The Boston Bruins had a major shakeup to their roster this summer. Both David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron retired from the NHL. This led to a need for several new forwards on the roster. One player looking to fill the void is John Beecher.
Beecher was drafted in the first round of the 2019 NHL Draft by the Bruins. He then went on to spend 3 seasons at the University of Michigan. After one year in the AHL last season Beecher finally got to make his debut last night. The realization of a lifelong dream ended in a surprising way for the young top prospect.
Bruins Rookie Fights In His First Game
In the third period of the debut for Beecher, he found himself in an altercation with Jason Dickinson. Things escalated and they decided to drop the gloves and fight.
The fight was evenly contested early before the veteran Dickinson began to take control. While Beecher ultimately lost the fight he held his own and likely earned respect from his teammates.

Beecher has shown he can survive physically now but he will need to turn things up offensively if the Boston Bruins want another shot at the Stanley Cup this season.
The Bruins ended up winning the game 3-1 in what will certainly be a memorable debut for John Beecher.
