The Boston Bruins have been held hostage for these past two offseasons by veteran forwards Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci. Their indecisiveness on whether or not to continue playing or hang up the skates has left Boston in limbo, not committing to a rebuild or contending until they know their decision.

Boston Talking Trade With New York

According to a new report by Stefen Rosner of NHL.com, the Bruins and Islanders seem to be talking about a trade that would swap forwards Jake DeBrusk and Jean-Gabriel Pageau.
"There's a rumor going around that the #Isles and #NHLBruins are in talks regarding DeBrusk/Pageau.

Haven't heard a thing. Pretty sure it's speculation because if Bergeron and Krejci retire, Bruins need a center.

Can't see Isles moving Pageau unless it's for an elite scorer."
It looks like Boston is already looking for a "Plan B" in the event of Bergeron and Krejci's retirement. Pageau would certainly help fill the hole left by those two, but losing DeBrusk would sting.

Just Wait, There's More!

Rosner went on to mention that DeBrusk and Pageau might not be the only two names involved in this potential deal.
"That's not to say those two were the only names that would be involved IF there was any truth to this. However, I personally wouldn't do Pageau for DeBrusk, which means I certainly wouldn't do Pageau & X for DeBrusk."
Rosner adds that he values Pageau over DeBrusk, and wouldn't trade them one for one, let alone add assets on top of Pageau for DeBrusk. Boston might not have the deepest prospect pool, but they certainly have the assets to make this work if they really value Pageau that high.
A guy like Mason Lohrei, one of Boston's top prospects, could have his name thrown around if these trade talks heat up.
