The Boston Bruins moved Linus Ullmark this summer, and despite this making Jeremy Swayman the clear starter, the team still don't want to pay him what he's worth.

This off-season has been a very intriguing one in Boston, as the team seemingly went all in on Jeremy Swayman after he posted a 2.53 GAA and a .916 save percentage through 44 games a season ago. However, that doesn't appear to be the case, as a report from Ryan Whitney revealed the team's latest offer came in at four-years, $6.2 AAV for the 25-year old.
While that's certainly not bad money, it places Swayman around 10th in the NHL in AAV for goaltending, and with a bright future ahead of him after some already fantastic years, he clearly believes he is worth more than that. How much more he believes he is worth has now been unveiled by top insider Elliotte Friedman, who revealed that Swayman is asking for $10 million AAV, or at the very least, the Charlie McAvoy contract that comes in at 8-years, $9.5 million AAV.
This puts the team at a difference in both term (4 years difference) and money (at least $3.3 million AAV difference), and given that the season is just a month away, something has to give. It's unclear whether this difference comes from hard feelings after the two sides went to arbitration a year ago, but it doesn't seem to be helping, and with Joonas Korpisalo the teams backup, they will be desperately looking to get something done soon.
