The contract standoff between the Boston Bruins and restricted free agent goalie Jeremy Swayman is heating up, and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.

While Swayman has been a solid presence in net, he hasn't proven he's He hasn't won a Vezina Trophy, and he's earned a reputation for being inconsistent when given the chance to run away and become Boston's permanent starter.
So to hear him demand for $10 million AAV is ludicrous.
That would put him in the same pay range as Stanley Cup Champion Sergei Bobrovsky of the Florida Panthers.
Both Swayman and the Bruins need to get on the same page before the season starts and are confident they'll come to an agreement in time for puck drop on training camp in September.
Boston has already traded last season's Vezina winner, Linus Ullmark, to the Ottawa Senators, leaving Jonas Korpisalo and Brandon Bussi as an underwhelming pair if Swayman isn't ready.
This is shaping up to be an intense battle as Swayman fights for his payday, and GM Don Sweeney looks to protect the team's long-term cap space while keeping his anchor happy.
As a restricted free agent, Swayman can only negotiate with the Bruins unless another team is willing to give him a offer sheet, which seems unlikely at that price. If this drags into the season, he has until December 1 to sign, or he'll be out for the entire 2024-25 season.
