The NHL has come and gone by fast, and now, teams are making final moves before camp, with the Boston Bruins considering a shock PTO.
After an injury riddled campaign with the New York Rangers in 2023/24, there were fears surrounding Blake Wheeler's future in the NHL, but now, he may get a lifeline from a surprising team. According to a recent report, the Boston Bruins have considered signing former Winnipeg Jets captain Blake Wheeler to a professional tryout.
The report from Bruins reporter Shawn Hutcheon also names former Edmonton Oiler Kyler Yamamoto, but given Wheelers experience and success in the NHL, as well as the Bruins need up front, this could be a very intriguing pickup. In his lone season with New York, the 37-year old played in just 54 games, but tallied 9 goals and 21 points over that time, so while he may no longer be the 70-90 point threat he was in Winnipeg, he could be worth a shot.
