The newest Montreal Canadien Patrik Laine was quick to learn the lingo of Montreal journalism the hard way. Laine was asked repeatedly about why he entered the NHL, NHLPA's players assistance program, but didn't shy away from the personal question.

He spoke to the press after being acquired by GM Kent Hughes in an trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets while also netted the Canadiens a second round pick as a token for absorbing the 26 year-old's hefty $8.7 cap hit in exchange for defenseman Jordan Harris.
He admitted that he struggled with how to react in certain situations in the past, but he's now better equipped to handle emotional challenges. He worked hard on his mental health and he even launched a support program recently in collaboration with his fiancée.
Laine shared what he learned throughout the process and how he rediscovered his love for hockey.
One thing I've learned is that when you're no longer having fun doing what you do (in my case, playing hockey), you probably won't be able to perform, and that's kind of where I was. I hadn't been able to enjoy myself as much for a while, but now, I'm happier than ever. I've worked a lot on myself to get back to this point where I'm genuinely excited to start playing again, with a new team and new teammates. I've learned a lot of things, and I'm more ready than ever to put them into practice.
Laine wasn't happy with himself while with the Blue Jackets but is ready for his redemption tour and there's no better place to do it than in Habs- land.
