At the 2024 NHL deadline, reports emerged that the Boston Bruins attempted to move star goaltender Linus Ullmark to the Los Angeles Kings, but ultimately they were denied by his no-movement clause. Now, they may have no choice but to move him as they saw Jeremy Swayman emerge as the undisputed No. 1 in Bean Town as they took down the Toronto Maple Leafs and challenge the Eastern Conference Champion Florida Panthers.
That loss ultimately showed the Bruins that they have other weaknesses that need to be filled, and now, it seems to be a matter of when, not if they move Ullmark. Now, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen has revealed that the Senators may be the team to make a deal happen and pry Ullmark from the pairing that he's built with Swayman in Boston.
On Wednesday the Calgary Flames and Washington Capitals traded their top goaltenders to contending teams, limiting the amount of options that the Bruins now have, and with the goal of making the playoffs under relatively new ownership, the Senators are ready to be aggressive. If a deal is to happen here, it will likely take some time over the off-season and won't happen soon, but with both teams having needs, this could be the match that sees both teams take a step forward.
