Connor McDavid Delivers On Promise To Drag Panthers back to Alberta

After a dominant 8-1 win in Game 4, McDavid made it clear their goal was to drag the series back to Alberta.

The Panthers saw their chance to lift the Stanley Cup at Amerant Bank Arena slip away with a 5-3 loss in Game 5. Once holding a 3-0 series lead, Florida now finds themselves in a tight 3-2 battle.

McDavid shone once again, scoring twice and assisting on two more goals, including an empty-netter that sealed the victory. With the win, the Oilers avoided elimination and forced the series back to Edmonton for Game 6 on Friday.

McDavid has eight points in the last two games, putting him alongside Wayne Gretzky as the only players to achieve such a feat in a Stanley Cup Final. His eight points over these two games are the most ever for a player facing elimination in consecutive games.

McDavid's playoff point total now stands at 42, a mark only exceeded by legends like Gretzky and Mario Lemieux in a single postseason. His empty-net goal with 19 seconds left sparked celebrations across Edmonton.

McDavid did it all, including on the power play where he recorded those two assists. His highlight reel feed to Corey Perry for his first of the playoffs was his night in a nutshell.

The Oilers also managed to rattle Panthers' goalie Sergei Bobrovsky again, three nights after chasing him five goals into their eight goal outburst in Game 4.

Now it's onto Game 6 at Rogers Place in Edmonton on Friday night. The series is indeed going back to Alberta as McDavid forced everyone to keep flying.
