The Buffalo Sabres have endured the NHL's longest playoff drought, but with that comes the chance to draft some great young prospects, and now, they appear to be a team on the rise again.
In 263 games with Buffalo, Olofsson has scored an impressive 83 goals to go with 84 assists and 167 points, but now, it appears the team are unlikely to re-sign him as they look to build with this young core.
According to recent reports, the team are looking to go in a different, younger direction, and given that Olofsson is already 28-years old, it makes sense that they could either let him walk in free agency, or look to move him at the trade deadline.
With many teams out there needing forward help, he could be a cheap option to move for Buffalo, but either way, it appears the Sabres are committing to their young future and won't be bringing back a player that's spent the last five years in Buffalo.
