The Buffalo Sabres appear ready to take the next step towards breaking their playoff drought, and now they've made a cheap, intriguing addition to the roster.
NHL free agency started in utter chaos on Monday, and after making very few moves, the Buffalo Sabres have started day two with a bang. On social media, the team officially announced that for a one-year, $1 million AAV, they have inked a deal with veteran goaltender James Reimer.
We have signed goaltender James Reimer to a one-year contract worth $1,000,000.
The 36-year old has 14 years of NHL experience, most recently with the Detroit Red Wings, where he posted a .904 save percentage and a 3.11 GAA over 25 appearances in 2023-24.
It's not the move that's going to take them over the top, but the Sabres have been building a nice young core, so landing Reimer as pure depth in net can't be seen as anything but a major win for this ascending team.
