The Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets played out a very entertaining game on Wednesday night, and despite the thrilling shootout result, the game was marred by one dirty play.
Targeting a young star
During the matchup, we saw a fun fight with Adam Klapka and Tyrel Bauer, but it was later in the game when things became way too serious for one Winnipeg Jets young star.
With less than a minute left in the second period, Martin Pospisil, an AHL'er fighting for his spot on the roster took things too far, hitting Cole Perfetti out of nowhere, leading to a well deserved game misconduct.
No concussion protocol?
Perfetti was then taken from the game, but afterwards, the Jets revealed that was for precautionary reasons, and as of right now, it appears he may avoid the concussion protocol.
He will be reevaluated on Thursday, but at this time of year, these types of hits are unnecessary, and if young players fighting for a spot don't cut things out, the NHL may be forced to make some type of change.
