It has been more than a week since the passing of Johnny Gaudreau, and over that time, fans of the Calgary Flames, Columbus Blue Jackets and the entire sporting world have paid tribute. Now, we've seen another from an NFL star as he made his entrance to the stadium for Week One of the season wearing Gaudreau's iconic Flames No. 13 jersey.
The tribute comes from linebacker Alex Singleton, who played 54 games with the CFL's Calgary Stampeders between 2016 and 2018, right in the middle of Gaudreau's incredible run with the Flames. Singleton is one of many people outside of the NHL world that have paid tribute to Gaudreau, who became a hero to so many young athletes throughout his time in the NHL, with the Flames and Blue Jackets especially seeing their fans pay incredible respect to Johnny Hockey and his beloved family.
For those fans and players, it's not going to get easier to mourn the loss of a hero, friend or former teammate with the hockey season approaching, but with so many from other sports reaching out and paying their respects, it shows just how respected Gaudreau was throughout the world.
