Today a new rumor has connected the Boston Bruins to a free agent signing that would bring yet another goaltender into the organization.

This summer the Boston Bruins have overhauled their goaltending position. The moves began with Linus Ullmark being traded to the Ottawa Senators and fellow goalie Joonas Korpisalo coming back in return.
The trade of Linus Ullmark cleared the way for young star Jeremy Swayman to become the franchise goalie. Unfortunately, he remains unsigned as a restricted free agent and the Boston Bruins and Jeremy Swayman are reportedly not close to an agreement.
Jeremy Swayman has reportedly been offered a 4-year contract in the neighborhood of 6 million. However, he is reported as wanting a deal between 8-10 million dollars creating a significant gap.
With this gap existing there is a real possibility that Jeremy Swayman is not signed by opening night. With this possibility on the table the Boston Bruins could look to sign a veteran goaltender to shore up their depth alongside Joonas Korpisalo.

Bruins connected to former Toronto Maple Leafs goalie

In a post on HockeyBuzz.com an insider named Eklund has connected the Boston Bruins to a new goaltender. Former Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Martin Jones could be an option if the Bruins want a veteran.
From what I've heard, 34-year-old Martin Jones is one of the main names being tossed around as a possibility for a one-year contract.

This would take pressure off of both the Boston Bruins and Jeremy Swayman to 100% need a deal done by opening night. It would also give Martin Jones another opportunity to prove he belongs in the NHL. Once Jeremy Swayman returns then either Martin Jones or Joonas Korpisalo can be put on waivers without much issue.
The NHL season is approaching rapidly and if the Boston Bruins are going to make a move it needs to be done soon. As this situation with the Bruins goalies continues to develop we will pass along the latest information to you.
