The Battle of Alberta is hockey's best rivalry, and after watching their rival win three straight games, Flames fans are taking it into their own hands to stop history.
After a thrilling Stanley Cup Finals thus far, it all comes to a head on Monday night as the Oilers and Florida Panthers do battle in a winner-take-all Game 7 for hockey's biggest prize. If the Oilers can come away with the win, they'd win their first Cup since 1990, Canada's first since 1993 and would become the first team in NHL history to come back from an 0-3 deficit to win the Stanley Cup Finals.
Unsurprisingly, there's one group of people who desperately don't want that to happen, with fans of their biggest rival taking to a shocking source to stop the Oilers from winning it all.
Calgary Flames fans are turning to an unexpected organization in their time of need. 😅🤣
In a hilarious post, one Flames fan revealed that he messaged Greenpeace to protest the Oilers chances in Game 7, encouraging the environmental group to talk to Gary Bettman about rigging the game. It's unclear what type of pull Greenpeace have, but it's highly unlikely that even they've got the connections to make that happen.
Now, we patiently wait for Game 7 as history will be made one way or another, and if the Oilers do come away with the Stanley Cup, pray for the Flames fans who will have to suffer through it.
