As the NHL trade deadline approaches the actions of players, coaches, and management for every team get analyzed and connected to potential trades. This analysis continued with Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom a couple of days ago.

Markstrom's Actions In Warmups Spark Trade Rumors

A couple of nights ago the Calgary Flames had a home game against the San Jose Sharks. While the game was entertaining the most noteworthy point in the night came before the opening puck drop even happened.
During warmups fans and media took notice of an odd set of actions that Markstrom went through during warmups. Markstrom was seen handing out pucks to fans for much of the warmups. According to one team reporter, this is not something Markstrom typically does.
Fun moment#flames goalie Jacob Markstrom spent the last 3 ish minutes of warmups giving pucks to fans at both sides of the rink.

Even when he's backed up, I've never seen him do that before, ever.
When talking about this situation Valji compared it to another eerily similar scenario that happened last year with a former member of the Calgary Flames organization.

Flames Reporter Reveals Interesting Narrative Within Markstrom's Actions

While Jacob Markstrom could have just been feeling generous that night Valji believes something more is happening. To prove his theory he looked back to last season. During the Flames final practice then General Manager Brad Treliving watched practice from the bench. This would become sort of a goodbye moment with the organization.
Just me (!), but the scene w/ Markstrom during the end of warmups tonight reminded me when then-GM Brad Treliving watched the final practice of last season from the bench.

You just feel the air is different, given how out-of-character they were & the noise around them.
While this is quite a similar situation Markstrom has said he is not demanding a trade of any kind out of Calgary. With top goalie prospect Dustin Wolf knocking at the door of a full-time NHL gig trading Markstrom could mean the end of an era in Calgary and the beginning of a new one.
If Markstrom is traded soon this gesture by him can be looked back upon as his goodbye moment to the city of Calgary.
