The Tampa Bay Lightning lost a huge name recently in Mikhail Sergachev, but it's now become clear that they aren't going to sit back and watch their season drift away.
While this is a team that doesn't have much salary cap room to work with, there's ways for them to target big names, and now they've reportedly got one in their sights.
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Tampa Bay Lightning are interested in Noah Hanifin of the Calgary Flames who is seemingly available to be had via trade as a pending UFA this summer.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have been linked to Noah Hanifin ahead of the trade deadline.
A bidding war for Calgary's two available defenseman
The Calgary Flames not only have Hanifin available, but Chris Tanev as well, and from all reports, it appears that upwards of 10 teams are interested in both players ahead of the March 8 trade deadline.
Given this interest, Calgary won't be making it cheap to acquire either of their top remaining UFA's, and given the stance Craig Conroy has taken to get the best return available in the Elias Lindholm deal, someone may need to pay up to land Hanifin.
