A star defenseman has been taken off the trade block as training camp has begun and his team wants to win a Cup.
Hurricanes Take Star Defenseman Pesce Off The Trade Block
The Edmonton Oilers were interested in star defenseman Brett Pesce, hoping to strengthen their defense for a shot at the Stanley Cup. However, it seems that the Carolina Hurricanes have decided to keep Pesce and not trade him, especially as they aim to win the Stanley Cup this season.
After making him available all offseason, the #Hurricanes have taken defenseman Brett Pesce off of the trade block as they prepare to go all in for a Stanley Cup this season
Oilers Miss Out on Pesce's Help
The Oilers have had defensive troubles in recent years, relying on their strong offense to compensate. Brett Pesce, a top-tier defensive defenseman, could have filled their defensive gap and helped them in their Stanley Cup aspirations.
Unfortunately, the Oilers won't be getting Pesce (this year), and they'll need to explore other ways to improve their defense and reach the Stanley Cup finals. They will likely have an opportunity to entice him on the free agent market if he decides to not extend in Carolina.
