Lightning captain Steven Stamkos is upset and may be leaving the Lightning if they do not get a contract done soon.

Stamkos' Questionable Future

Steven Stamkos, who was the top pick in the 2008 draft, has been a vital part of the Lightning since then. However, with his contract expiring after the 2023-24 season, doubts have arisen about his future with the team. Stamkos brought these concerns to light when he talked about his contract situation.
To be honest I've been disappointed in the lack of talk in that regard. So it was something that I expressed at the end of last year that I wanted to get something done before training camp.

Hope for Reconciliation

Despite the initial uncertainty, Stamkos seems willing to repair his relationship with the Lightning organization. He has indicated his desire to return to the team, regardless of the current circumstances.
I'm ready whenever so I guess that was something that that I didn't see coming but it is what it is.

Like I stated at the end of last year, too. I would love to extend and play here and finish up my career here but that's out of my hands. I can't write a contract for myself.

Over his impressive 15-year career with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Stamkos has played in 1,003 games, scoring 515 goals and earning 1,056 points. He has also led the team to two Stanley Cup victories. As the season progresses, the fate of Steven Stamkos and his relationship with the Lightning will be a captivating story to follow.
