The Hurricanes and Leafs need to make a big move this off-season to get compete for a cup and Leafs radio host reports they are working out a deal involving Marner.

Insider Reports Leafs And Hurricanes Working On Marner Blockbuster

This past season, Mitch Marner just had a career year. Scoring 30 goals and assisting on 69 more, Marner's 99 points were 13th overall in the NHL.
The Hurricanes have been notoriously one star short of making it past the third round. While they have been good, they have not had a game-breaker that will turn the game on its head.
Sebastian Aho or Andrei Svechnikov can be that but their inconsistency has prevented them from being bona fide superstars.
One of Marner's most attractive qualities is his consistency. With an 11 and 23-game point streak respectively this past season, both would have been the longest for the Hurricanes.
Howard Berger, a radio host who has NHL connections reports that there are rumblings of a Marner to Carolina trade.
Berger has made it clear who he thinks should be in the return package.
This is not surprising as Slavin is an elite defenseman who consistently shuts down other teams' top players. While Slavin could be in the return, it is unlikely considering how low his cap hit is. If his cap hit was $3-4 million more, he is probably gone.

Marner To Carolina Mock Trade

To TOR:
Brett Pesce, Martin Necas, 2023 1st round pick
To CAR:
Mitch Marner, 2024 3rd round pick
What do you think? Is that enough for Marner or should Carolina add more?
