Insider Elliotte Friedman just revealed what it would take for teams to snag Jake Guentzel's signing rights from the Carolina Hurricanes.

After trading for Guentzel from the Pittsburgh Penguins earlier this season, Carolina paid a steep price: Michael Bunting, three prospects, and two conditional draft picks. Now, they not only have his skills on the ice but also his signing rights.
If a team wants to sign Guentzel before he hits the free agent market on July 1st, they'll need to trade for him. According to Friedman, the Hurricanes are looking for a mid-round pick in return.

One team that's rumored to be in the mix is the Chicago Blackhawks. They have the cap space to sign Guentzel and six draft picks between the second and sixth rounds.
#CauseChaos have made Jake Guentzel's signing rights available via trade for a mid-round pick, per @FriedgeHNIC (32TP).

Also added he doesn't think it's impossible that #Blackhawks are considering this. «Someone said to me Chicago's starting to make noises like they'd like to move things along a little bit here.»
Adding Guentzel could be a huge win for the Hawks, especially with his experience playing alongside Sidney Crosby, which would be invaluable for their rising star, Connor Bedard.
Giving up one of their draft picks to secure Guentzel's signing rights seems like a small price to pay for such a valuable player.
