Corey Perry's past is checkered to say the least, and in a recent piece, one Blackhawks insider has suggested it may be worse than anyone knows.

Corey Perry had a rollercoaster of a season in 2023/24, as his appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals was a far distance from where he began the season with the Chicago Blackhawks. There was an incident behind the scenes that caused the team to terminate his contract, and now, the story has been brought up again by Blackhawks Insider Mark Lazarus, who has some intriguing questions of his own for the Oilers.
«I've been asked «what really happened» by my poker buddies, my cardiologist and my own family. My response is always the same: We've reported what we can report. Do we know more than you do? Yes. But the bar to clear is very high when it comes to sensitive stories like this one. Until we have every detail of the story (not merely dribs and drabs), backed up and corroborated by sufficient sources, we won't report any of them. And we may never.

"A better question, one I really want to know: How much do the Edmonton Oilers know? Just scratching the surface here. I'll have Part 2 of the mailbag soon.»
In his latest mailbag, Lazarus questions if the Edmonton Oilers know the full story, as the insider reveals that he has details beyond what the public know, but doesn't have the whole story, and won't release those details until he does. It's no surprise that this story comes to the surface just after the Oilers signed former Chicago GM Stan Bowman, who has a less than stellar reputation of his own, and if those details ever do come to light, the Oilers themselves will have many questions to answer.
