Today the Edmonton Oilers have made the incredibly controversial decision to hire Stan Bowman as their General Manager.

The Edmonton Oilers have been searching for a General Manager since Ken Holland stepped down just days before the NHL Draft. In his absence Jeff Jackson has served as the interim General Manager. During that time he has made several moves that fans like.
Now instead of giving him the permanent position the Edmonton Oilers have officially named a new General Manager. According to reports they will be bringing in former Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Stan Bowman.
Hearing the Edmonton Oilers will hire Stan Bowman as GM todaymedia conference to be held sometime this morning.
Stan Bowman has been out of hockey for the last several years after it was revealed he covered up major crimes committed by a staff member of his with the Blackhawks. Since then he has supposedly learned and grown from those mistakes. Regardless this decision is controversial being in the NHL is a privilege and one that Stan Bowman already disrespected once.
The Edmonton Oilers are starting to become known for taking on controversial people in their organization with signings like this as well as Evander Kane and Corey Perry. Hopefully, now that he has already been hired he actually has grown and changed. It will be interesting to see if captain Connor McDavid has any comments on the situation.
