Cale Makar is undoubtedly the best Canadian defenseman right now and arguably the best Canadian player but will not be available for the next Olympics.

Makar Unable To Compete For Team Canada Despite Not Being Accused

Recently the 2018 Team Canada WJC scandal has been taking the hockey world by storm with the five players involved being charged. Fans thought that the five players being charged would allow for the players not involved to be able to play for Team Canada but that appears to not be the case.
So Makar may not play in the 2026 Olympics cuz of the ongoing criminal investigation
"Pending the completion of the appeal process, all players from the 2018 National Junior Team remain suspended by Hockey Canada, and are ineligible to play, coach, officiate or volunteer with Hockey Canada-sanctioned programs."

This is certainly unfair to Cale Makar but hopefully, before the 2026 Olympics things are able to get sorted out so the superstar can represent his nation.
