Fire the cannon. The Columbus Blue Jackets just announced that they've let go of their GM, Jarmo Kekäläinen. It's a tough decision, especially since he's been with the team for 12 seasons.

Shakeup in Columbus: Blue Jackets Part Ways with GM Jarmo Kekäläinen

The team's performance hasn't been up to par lately, sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. John Davidson, the president of hockey operations, mentioned that although they have faith in the team's future, they need a fresh perspective moving forward.
This is one of the hardest days I have had in my career as Jarmo is a friend, someone I have a great deal of respect for and someone who has done a lot of good things during his time here. While the future of our club is bright, our performance has not been good enough and it is time for a fresh perspective as we move forward.
Kekäläinen has been at the helm since 2013, leading the team to the playoffs several times, but they've only made it past the first round once. Looks like Columbus is aiming for a turnaround after missing the playoffs for a few consecutive seasons now.
