Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau played several years together on the same line for the Calgary Flames, and were set to reunite this season with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Unfortunately, Sean Monahan will never get the chance to play with Gaudreau again after he was tragically killed in a freak accident on Thursday night, along with his brother Matthew. The tragic incident has left the hockey world devastated for several days now.
Monahan made some comments on the «What Chaos!» show a few days before the accident occurred, and looking back on the comments are absolutely devastating. Monahan raves about how much he loved Johnny and that he wanted their kids to grow up together and become best friends. While their children could very well still end up becoming best friends, Johnny won't be around to witness them grow up, which is absolutely gut wrenching.
The man behind the Gaudreau's deaths is Sean Higgins, and he is facing at least 20 years in prison for death by auto and DUI charges. While his official jail sentence has yet to be handed out, hockey fans everywhere are praying that this man spends the rest of his life in prison for what he did.
Everyone in the hockey world and sports world alike is sending their positive thoughts and prayers to the Gaudreau family in this incredibly difficult time, and to all of the Gaudreau brothers former teammates who are grieving the loss of a friend, brother, father and teammate.
