Despite the tragedy that affected Johnny Gaudreau's wife, Meredith, it's comforting to know that she and her kids will receive money to take care of each other.

Tragedy struck quietly one Thursday evening in Salem County, New Jersey, Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew, were struck by a vehicle near their residence. Neither would survive the accident. With that, the question now lingers on what's in store for Gaudreau's grieving family.
Following Gaudreau's death, his wife Meredith and their children will automatically receive continued health coverage for six months. During this period, the NHL club will cover the premiums for Gaudreau's dependents. After these six months, the family has the option to purchase continued coverage through COBRA for an additional 36 months or to transition to a retired player plan, depending on Johnny's eligibility at the time of his passing.

Additionally, the CBA ensures that dependents can maintain their current level of coverage during this initial period. If they need to make changes to their plan, they can do so without waiting for the next open enrollment period. Furthermore, the agreement includes provisions for dependent children to remain covered until age 26, even if there is no surviving parent eligible for coverage.
No words can heal the heartache of this extreme loss. While healing will take some time, especially for Johnny's wife and children, the assurance of financial stability during this critical period brings a small measure of comfort in a painful moment.
