Agent Lewis Gross reflects on the legacy of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau

In an emotional statement, Lewis Gross, agent to the late Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, reflected on what it meant to represent the brothers over the past 15 years following their tragic passing last week when the two were hit by drunk driver Sean Higgins while riding their bikes.
Gross described the Gaudreaus not just as clients, but as family.
He recounted the bond between the brothers, explaining how Johnny, most recently a Columbus Blue Jacket, formerly a Calgary Flames, turned down his initial contract offer from the latter after his sophomore year at Boston College just to play one more season with Matthew. Johnny posted 80 points and won the 2014 Hobey Baker Award as the NCAA MVP, bookending a college career which began with a national championship title in his freshman season.
Money never drove these boys, family did.
Gross shared how Matt's love for family was evident during his time in Sweden.
He called me after a week there and said, �I miss Madeline and my family, they mean more to me than hockey.'
In their last time together, at John's charity golf tournament, Gross remembered sitting around the table with the entire Gaudreau family.
I was family to them and got teased just like everyone else. Those are the moments I will miss the most.
He expressed his gratitude to John and Matt's parents, Guy and Jane.
Thank you for trusting your boys to Jamie and myself. I told you I'd be by their side and yours in good times and bad.
Though the tragedy of their passing has brought immense sorrow, Gross vowed to continue honoring his commitment to the family. «The hockey might be over, but my commitment to John and Matt will last throughout my life
