Three-time Stanley Cup Champion Mark Recchi will have to look for a job after being relieved from his assistant coaching duties with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

With a 22-year career and three Stanley Cup wins, Mark Recchi will always be an NHL legend. Despite having become an HHoF member in 2017, he was finally inducted into the Flyers Hall of Fame earlier this year. Philadelphia recognized his decade with the team, which produced 627 points in 602 games.
"Mark Recchi will be inducted into the #Flyers Hall of Fame on January 27th!

The 55-year-old will join legendary names during a pregame ceremony against the Boston Bruins.

Recchi spent 10 years in Philadelphia, recording 627 points in 602 games played."
Yet, his good name in the NHL has been sullied by his life after playing. After having only been hired in September, Mark Recchi has been dismissed from his assistant coaching role with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Their head coach, Dean Evanson, is expected to hire at least one replacement ahead of the upcoming season.
"The Athletic: Mark Recchi, hired under unusual circumstances last fall, fired after only one season with Blue Jackets.
#CBJ, under new coach Dean Evason, will hire at least one new assistant coach (maybe two) for 2024-25 season."
Despite his success as a player, many NHL fans are not surprised by his firing in the slightest. Many of them remember his time as the short-term assistant coach for the New Jersey Devils in a less-than-positive light.
"Former #NJDevils PP wizard...and if by wizard I mean someone who magically got a lot of talent to not score...is out of a job again."
With such little apparent support and only two short chances behind the bench, it is a mystery how long it will take for Mark Recchi to get hired by a new team, should that happen at all. If it does, hopefully, he can make a more noticeable improvement to the players he coaches.
