Stars Emotionally Announce Passing in the Organization
The Dallas Stars shared today an emotional message regarding a recent passing in the organization.
Doug Overton Passes
The Stars shared via Twitter General Manager Jim Nill's message regarding the passing of Doug Overton, longtime Stars Player Scout.
"Doug was a scout's scout. He knew the league and the players as well as anyone in the business. His role in helping build the '99 championship team can't be overstated, and he will be missed by the entire hockey community. - Stars GM Jim Nill
Overton's Legacy
Overton was part of the franchise for over 18 years. He was instrumental in drafting some of Dallas' most notable players including Captain Jamie Benn, Trevor Daley, Jussi Jokinen, Roope Hintz, Jason Robertson, and Jake Oettinger, and his contributions helped Dallas win the Stanley Cup in 1999. He will be remembered as a "scout's scout" as Nill put it.
He will surely be missed by the Organization.
