Two key players missed the Oilers' practice earlier today in Edmonton as they prepare to face the Florida Panthers on Thursday night.
This morning, concerning reports came out of the Oilers' practice. Darnell Nurse wasn't on the ice, and Evander Kane left after a conversation with head coach Kris Knoblauch:
"Kris Knoblauch having an extended conversation with Evander Kane as the Oilers get set to begin practice. It lasted almost 5 minutes. Kane left the ice right after the chat.
After the practice, Knoblauch held a press conference and confirmed that Darnell Nurse should be available tonight, and Corey Perry is likely to return to the lineup. However, he wouldn't share Kane's status:
"Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch said it's likely that Corey Perry comes back in the lineup for Game 3. He also indicated Darnell Nurse should be good to go, saying they haven't given much thought to him not being available. He didn't say anything about Evander Kane."
"We haven't decided yet," Knoblauch said when asked directly if Kane will play in Game 3."
While it's worrying when players miss practice, at this point in the playoffs, most of them have injuries and sometimes, they need to rest or receive treatments in order to be able to play the next game.
