An Oilers defenseman and 700-game NHL veteran is set to retire.
Demers Retires
Recently, Oilers defenseman Jason Demers went on the SJHN podcast to discuss his NHL career and the state of it. He said the following effectively announcing his retirement from hockey:
"pretty much" retired from professional hockey «95%. I'm right on the edge of retirement, if not retired.» - Jason Demers
Demers played his final NHL game with the Oilers last season and spent most of the season with the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL.
He played the majority of his career with the San Jose Sharks, Dallas Stars, Florida Panthers, and the Arizona Coyotes. Throughout his 700-game career, he registered 214 total points 45 of which were goals.
He will now look to transition into broadcasting, a business many former NHLers pick up.
An official announcement is expected in the coming weeks.
