It was reported earlier today that Oilers general manager Ken Holland had given 22-year-old defenseman Phillip Broberg permission to seek a trade. However, new reports are now saying that this is not the case.

Broberg Not On The Trade Block Afterall?

Oilers reporter Ryan Rishaug just reported that Ken Holland has not, in fact, given permission to Phillip Broberg to seek a trade. This is directly contrary to previous reports that suggested the 22-year-old blueliner has been given permission to look elsewhere earlier today.
Ken Holland says he has NOT granted permission for Darrin Ferris to shop for a Broberg trade.

Holland - "I have not granted permission to Derrin to shop Broberg"

Ferris response

"This matter reflects both my and my client's frustration with the Oilers. I'm actively collaborating with Ken to address and resolve the issue privately."

Clearly there are major issues here between this 1st rnd pick and the organization. They have spoken multiple times in recent days, things seem to have boiled over with today's development.
NHL insider Frank Serravalli reported earlier today that Broberg had been given permission to seek a trade.
Understand the #Oilers granted permission for Philip Broberg's camp to seek a trade. Sounds like there has been solid interest on that front.

Edmonton isn't interested in getting a pick back, they'd like a player. So you'll have to likely find a player in a similar situation.
Hopefully we will get some clarity on this matter soon. In the meantime, it seems that the Oilers will not be moving on from their former 8th overall pick, but the relationship between the player and team does suddenly appear to be in jeopardy.
